Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a stop –start system
on its key models, to increase the fuel efficiency. According to a report, the first model to
come with Maruti’s ‘Idling Stop’ technology will be the Wagon R.
The most wonderful thing is that Maruti will be the first
manufacturer to offer this stop-start system on a mass-market hatchback.

The feature of the system is that, essentially the system
shuts off the engine when the car comes to a rest, and restarts the car’s
engine when the driver presses the clutch. As a result of it the AC shuts down as
well.

The Idling stop technology will come with a feature called
Eco Cool in which cool air flows through the cabin even if the engine is
switched off. This cool air comes from a cooling storage device located in the
AC unit.
Equipped with this new idling stop the Wagon R is expected to
save 2km/l more than the current model.
Reports Say that Maruti is about to offer this system on
products like the Ertiga facelift and the Ciaz too.
